When Turkish Hazelnuts Meet Indian Opportunity
The Turkish Hazelnuts B2B Trade Seminar brought together global expertise and India’s expanding appetite for premium, healthy foods across two cities, Delhi and Mumbai, marking a significant step forward in India–Türkiye collaboration within the nuts and dry fruits sector.
The Delhi leg was attended by H.E. Ali Murat Ersoy, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to India, lending the occasion added significance. Setting the tone, Col. Nitin Sehgal, VSM (Veteran), CEO, Nuts and Dry Fruits Council (India) [NDFC(I)], noted in his Welcome Address that the seminar went beyond a trade forum, serving as a bridge between Türkiye’s global leadership in hazelnuts and India’s rapidly expanding market for nutritious, versatile, and premium foods.
Building on this, Hasan Osman Sabir spoke to the depth and heritage of Türkiye’s hazelnut industry, while Gunjan Jain, President, NDFC(I), underlined the significant headroom in India’s hazelnut market, shaped by evolving consumer preferences and rising demand for premium ingredients. Kavita Devgan rounded out the session by highlighting how hazelnuts align naturally with India’s growing shift towards mindful, health-conscious snacking.
The momentum travelled to Mumbai for Day 2 of the seminar, where the conversation deepened further. Hasan Osman Sabir once again set the global context, after which Yash Gawdi turned the spotlight to India’s expanding hazelnut opportunity. Ms. Varsha Gorey reinforced the nutritional relevance of hazelnuts for Indian consumers, while Mansi Ahuja closed the presentations with an interactive Trade Perspectives session exploring the versatility of hazelnuts across culinary and retail applications.
The seminar was attended by Mr. Siddharth Rachh, NDFC(I) Regional Governor for Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Daman & Diu, reflecting the Council’s on-ground commitment to strengthening this partnership.
Across both cities, the real strength of the seminar lay in the conversations that followed the presentations. Networking Lunches and B2B Meetings brought industry stakeholders together to explore commercial opportunities, exchange insights, and lay the foundation for long-term business partnerships.
For NDFC(I), this two-city engagement marks a meaningful step in strengthening India–Türkiye collaboration in the nuts and dry fruits sector. From knowledge to opportunity, from dialogue to business, the message came through clearly: there is significant potential to take the Turkish hazelnut story deeper into the Indian market.
NDFC(I) remains committed to creating platforms that connect international producers with India’s dynamic marketplace, building partnerships that deliver value for businesses and consumers alike.
